Motorcycle Repair: Bearings, locktite, press fit

Question
Hi, I am rebuilding my 1986 Suzuki RM125. I have replaced all but three of the bottom end bearings including the crank bearings. One of the bearings that I have left, (transmission bearing) I am able to take out and put in by hand. It can spin slightly in the hole. I know the fit should be tight, so should it be replaced? If a new bearing doesn't cure this and the problem is with the hole for the bearing will it affect anything? Thanks, John

Answer
John,The bearings in the trans are not a press fit but may be tapped in with a small mallet or hammer. If the case is worn and lets the brg spin you may experience a vibration or chatter. If its not too loose you can use a red locktite around the O.D. and it will set up and hold the brg tight.Just replacing the brg probably will not fix  the fit problem. As you know the brg is a very hard metal and the cases are a magnesium and aluminum soft casting.
