Motorcycle Repair: Kawasaki Concours will not idle, spark plug gaps, lucas fuel injection

Question
Kawasaki Concours 2000 model will not idle unless choke is applied. I have replaced gas in tank and drained carb bowls, cleaned and checked spark plug gaps but bike will not idle unless choke is applied about half way. I can't set idle speed as I can't release choke. Big note: bike was unused for approximately one year, do I need carb work done? I can idle ok with choke applied but applying any throttle shuts engine down. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks

Answer
Steve, You hit it right there. The jets are plugged in the carbs and need to be removed and cleaned and adjusted. With the quality of fuel we get now the carbs will go bad in 2-3 months. They need to be cleaned and syncronized.Once thats done try some Lucas fuel injection cleaner and put 1/2 bottle in tank and run it out then put in fresh fuel in tank and put the other 1/2 bottle in the tank. This will help get it back to running better.
