Motorcycle Repair: 2002 Harley charging system, ac volts, stator

how do i check the stator first

Answer
Unplug the regulator and at the stator plug do a OHMs check from wire to ground. No OHMs do this to both wires. If it passes that check wire to wire. SHould should OHMs. Next start the bike and at the stator wires you should around 60 AC volts at 2000 RPM. If it fails any fo the above tests then its bad
