Motorcycle Repair: SPROCKET SHAFT SEAL LEAKING, emery cloth, shaft seal

QUESTION: Hi Mike, I got a evo fxstb 98, and now i got a leaking  at sprocket shaft also. I am trying to figure out how stop that leaking and i gived up. Could you let me know how can i fix it. I have changed the seal twice. i am using primary belt. Thanks. Sid.

QUESTION: Yes, i am sure. When i rev around 4000 rpm it leaks a lot of oil.

get a sprocket shaft seal from James Genuine Gaskets. they are double lipped and should solve your problem. When you take the old seal out check the shaft for any wear where the seal sits or any burrs. You can clean it up with some very fine emery cloth which also might help.
