Question
i own a 1997 suzuki bandit 1200. im having an electrical problem. it seemed to have started with the license plate light. i was pulled over because the light was out so when i went to change it i found the bulb had separated from the base and was so hot that it melted into the lens. almost the same story with the signals.

Answer
Johnny,Check the voltage at the battery with the bike shut off. The volt meter should show  a little over 12 volts. Start the bike and at idle the battery should read about 12.9 volts. Now rev the bike to about 3000 rpm and hold check the battry voltage it should be no more that 13.9 volts. If it is the regulator maybe overcharging and will start taking out electrical components like lights then relays and CDI's which will get expensive.
