Motorcycle Repair: countershaft seal 1979 750 CB K, pressure variations, salvage yard

Question
I have a oil leak on my 1979 750 CB. I did some research and found that there was a recall on this issue. It appears the repair was more involved than just replacing the seal.I don't know what I can do with a thirty two year old recall, that requires a part that I don't know if I can get my hands on.

I'm hoping you are familiar with the recall and can give me some direction on how to get the part or an alternative fix.

Thanks
Steve

Oil Passage Body
Hi Steve,

That is an old recall but it involves the oil pressure variations
causing the countershaft seal to split and leak oil.

The fix was to install a modified "oil path body"
or oil passage body in the oil pan. This reduced the
oil pressure to the countershaft seal area.

I do not know where you would get the recall
part now but a 1980 or later CB750
oil passage body should have the mods done
and should fit on your engine.

A new countershaft seal would likely fix it for awhile too.

When you have time just pull the oil pan
off the engine bottom and the oil path body
is under the oil pickup screen inside.
It has 6 bolts holding it on.

Good luck!
