Motorcycle Repair: Blinkers!!!, engine temp, yzf 600

Question
I recently bought a 2007 yzf 600 from a buddy of mine and my front right and left blinkers are getting so hot while on theyre actually starting to melt the plastic casing they are mounted in,also neither one blinks,my rear blinkers work fine just the front ones are giving me problems..could it be that someone put the wrong bulbs in it??? Also,my engine temp gets to about 120 degrees at times but when im steady moving and its getting steady air flow the temp does drop..is this normal?

Answer
Phillip, The bulbs may be the wrong wattage and are to much for the housing. You might look up "powersportspro.com" and look up the correct bulbs and part numbers and see if the local shop can get the right ones. The overheating problem can be caused by the cooling fan not coming on soon enough to keep it cool. There is a temp switch in the radiator that has power on one wire then goes to the fan, If the radiator gets to the preset temp it triggers the switch and starts the fan untill it drops below the preset temp. The fan motor may need to be direct tested to see if its working. The switch has to be heated and tested with a continuity tester to see when and at what temp it turns on.
