Motorcycle Repair: ttr 125 front wheel removal, front wheel bearings, motorcycle repairs

Question
I have a 2005 Yamaha TTR125 dirt bike that needs the front wheel bearings replaced.  I can almost knock the axle bolt out but it seems to bind up at the very end, less than an inch from clearing.  The forks are spreading out and twisting which doesn't help matters.  I have hit on the axle bolt so much, the axle bolt threads are starting to get messed up.  Do you have any suggestions on getting this thing off?  I'm rather tight on money and don't want to take it into the shop.  Please be kind as I am new to motorcycle repairs. Thanks for your help!

Answer
Serenity, You may have gotten one that the axle has rusted or corroded into the forks and wheel brgs.Usually when the tire is changed the axle bolt is coated with a moly or grease so that it wont stick the next time its removed. Now as for the present situation. You are on your way but the axle bolt may have swelled up not allowing it to come out of the fork. Bigger bikes have pinch bolts to hold the axle tight even if the nut comes off. Can you find or borrow a brass or aluminum punch to finish taking out the axle.If the axle which is hollow to save weight as damaged you may have to spring for one but if the nut is ok dont purchase one. The axle part number is 1B2-F5181-00-00 and around $13.95. Make sure the spacers on each side of the wheel on the axle go back on the same side. The axle material can seize up in the aluminum forks the stainless brgs and become very difficult to get apart if a power washer has been used on it during its life time. The water gets behind the seals and does some damage that we dont know about untill we try to work on them.
