Answer
Hi Laura,

The Honda uses an enrichment plunger
rather than an actual choke plate
as in some bikes or older cars.

When these plunger lift or
pull outward they richen the fuel mixture.
It is important for them to close
or bottom out when the choke
lever or knob is pushed off.

If I am right your choke cable
will be a one into two part cable
if your bike has dual carbs.

It might be easier to do with the seat and fuel
tank off for starters but you can check
it out first.

The seat will have a bolt at the rear
and then it just pulls backward to release.
It has a catch at the front that it
hooks under.

The fuel tank has a bolt at the rear and
two hoses and possibly an electrical connector
and it too pulls backward off it's
mounting rubbers. Watch the paint near the front
of the tank if you lift on the tank it might
hit the fork crown.

If you still feel brave after this
you can seek out the end of the
choke cables where they enter
the carbs.

They have rubber covers to pull back
and expose the choke nut that holds
the choke plunger valves inside the carb.

When you loosen these 12mm plastic? nuts on the
cable ends they screw out of the carbs
anticlockwise and on the end of the cable is the
choke plunger unit.

Be careful pulling the choke plunger valves out of the
carbs as they have small coil springs that
hold against the brass plunger valve.

To remove the choke cable you must pull the spring
back a little and flip the little brass
plunger valve off the cable end.
You do not want to lose the spring
or the plunger.

If you have two carbs then you will have
two of these choke assemblies to remove
the old choke cable from.

Once the springs and plungers are safely off
then you must move all the cable
nuts and rubbers etc over to the new
cables. Leave any adjusters as they are.

This is the time to remove the cable
from the top end on your choke lever
or knob. It is easier to do the choke
lever or knob cable end and then do
the plunger ends last inside the carbs
when reassembling everything.

The choke plungers have to be put back
on the cable ends after the small springs are on.
Then they are screwed back into the carbs carefully
and not too tight as the nut may break.
I think they are sometimes plastic nuts.

Pull the rubber choke cable covers back over
the choke plunger nut.

Slide fuel tank on and connect the hoses
and plugs. Install the rear tank bolt.
Install the seat(s)

If you are confused upload pictures of
your problem area somewhere I can see them
so I will better know what is happening.

Good luck!
