QUESTION: Sorry Mike - Site made me open a new thread.
The readings I got from my coil and wires is:
Primary - 2.8
Secondary - 11.11
6" wire - 2.1k
18" wire - 5.6k

In answer to your questions - the gap for the plugs is 0.040 and nothing on the carb has been fiddled with.

ANSWER: Your coil and wires seen to be with in limits. Check in the posts where the plug wires go. is there a bunch of corrosion?

Generally, when you have a problem like this, it is either the carb or the coil. It cant be the ignition, since it is just a on/off switch and doest control how hot the spark is. Since you havent made any changes to the carb I would  be inclined to think it is the coil. The only other thing is the coil is breaking down when it gets hot and failing.
