Motorcycle Repair: 02 low rider clutch, chain assembly, trans case

Question
Mike,
i just replaced the stator and rotor on my bike and it was successful. i followed my shop manual to the letter on dis and reassembly. however, now my clutch wont disengage, i adjusted it as per the manual, to the letter, several times and even took off the outer trans case off to make sure the cable is still in the proper place, and it is. when i took off the primary chain assembly, it came off with no problem and the rod inside didn't even come out, and when i put it all back, it went back nicely. i started it, ran it and when i put it in gear, it is only barely disengaging. so i adjusted it tighter and gave it a test ride, hoping to free it up, and it still didn't disengage all the way and was even slipping.  so i am stumped.

Answer
Loosen the cable so it has alot of slack in it. Now go to the clutch and turn the adjuster inward, just until it bottoms out and then back out about 1/8 turn. Tighten the locknut. Now adjust the cable so you have about 1/8 inch play in the lever. See if that doesnt work
Good luck and happy riding
Mike
