Motorcycle Repair: clutch, clutch plates, iron head

Hello,I need some help on how to adjust clutch.when i pull clutch handle with it in gear it dose not release to roll free.i have tried to do it but not having any luck the motor is a 72 iron head with shifter on right side.this thing is killing me

The lever must have about 2mm gap at the opening at the pivot point on the lever just as you feel tension on the clutch. If you are ok with this there may be another problem in the clutch itself.Possibly warped driver discs or warped and swollen fiber discs that wont let go even with the lever pulled.This may call for a clutch inspection for damaged or worn parts,drain the oil out of the primary case as this job gets messy pull the drive cover off and start looking inside case. If no parts or debris found in bottom then loosen chain and remove the clutch plates and basket to inspect.
