Motorcycle Repair: choke alignment, yamaha ttr125, plunger assembly

Question
HI

I want to buy a Yamaha TTR125 that is a 2008 model - second hand. The seller says it needs a "choke alignment" but it will start without the choke. It sounds to me like the choke needs fixing. Is this likely to be expensive and difficult to do?
Many thanks for any help you can give

Answer
This sounds kinda hinky to me. The choke is actually an enrichener valve on the carb to allow more fuel into the intake. The plunger assembly is held in the carb by a plastic nut and the choke cable runs through it up to the control lever or knob. If its broke you might spend about 39.00 for all parts. See if its broken or the plunger is stuck pulling back the brass plunger in the carb.
