Motorcycle Repair: 1981 750 Yamaha Virago, fly wheel, rember

was talking to someone last nite cant rember who...took of fly wheel to put new oil pump chain, put the bike back together, now trying to turn engine over it binds up solid.Now i checked one of the spark plugs and seen that something is hitting the plug, is it possible it could be the valve hitting, if it is how do i know for sure.and if it is do i have to remove the engine to take the heads off?   HELP.....

Stephanie, Its hard to tell but the oil pump chain doesnt have a direct connection the the valve timing Unless the valve gets hit by the piston neither part will hit the plug the timing may be off.This may lead to other problems like bent valves cracked valve stem guides and damage seats or even worse damaged piston or bent connecting rod maenin major overhaul. Try to eliminate all smaller problems first before going to this expense.
