Motorcycle Repair: 1979 CBX 1000 not starting, headlight bucket, great shape

Question
Hi, I have a 79 CBX 1000. It's in really great shape but it was just laid up for six months and wont start. I drained the carb bowls and tank. Put new fuel in but when I go to start it the starter runs perfectly but I get no hint of the engine trying to turn over at all. I checked the plugs and I'm pretty sure I have no spark?
If you could give we some advice I'd really appreciate it!!!
Cheers!!!

Answer
Did you check for no spark on all plugs?  It is pretty rare for a CBX to have no spark at all, since there are basically three ignition circuits and they're pretty independent of each other.  So thinking about the logical points where they all come together is the ignition switch and the kill switch.  Now thinking about the frequency of things failing on the CBX, I would first check the ignition switch, but if you're getting oil and neutral light then the power should be there, next thing to check would be the kill switch. If you have a wiring diagram you can test the kill switch by verifying continuity at the wires in the plug inside the headlight bucket.  Let me know,
