Motorcycle Repair: CBX Prolink running poor, dutch proverb, old battery

Question
Jan, I've not been sitting still since my last question and after cleaning, tightening and refitting the existing spark plug and cap, nr 6 cylinder is back again. Nr. 1 still 'hesitating' to join.

Apart from your welcomed answer, I guess that also the 7 year old battery as well as new sparkplugs (maybe Iridium?) might need to be taken into account to be replaced? I do not have any experience to what extend an aging CBX will show 'wear'.

Forgot to say in my previous mail that I've only driven the CBX 3 times last year. The old Dutch proverb "Rest rusts" might be valid :-)?

Regards
Henk

Answer
Hi Henk,

Rust Roest inderdaad...  Now you have only 1 cylinder 'out' so that reduces things to the spark plug lead or the plug.  A new set of plugs is probably not a bad idea, in the US we use NGK d8ea, which are fine for normal use.  If the battery still holds a charge and turns over the engine, it will not give you a problem like you describe, but old plugs might.  Good luck,  Jan
