Motorcycle Repair: 1982 honda v45 750, 1982 honda v45, radiator cap

Question
just bought the bike a 1982 v45 750, it sat all winter.  owner charged battery, started it and had white smoke coming from tailpipes.  never overheated just wont stay running.  He is the only owner bikes in excellent condition otherwise.  He says no problems with bike before storage rode it all summer.  only 18k miles great price.  Is it just head gaskets? if so how hard of a job?  should i just steer clear of problem?  thanks for all your help!

Answer
Just worked on one recentley with similar problem. Check under fuel tank the intake boot is rubber and collapsed letting water into intake and into engine.Take radiator cap off make sure has plenty of coolant. Rig up a compression tester to put air into the cylinder turn engine over with socket and ratchet on end of crank so that valves are closed.Screw in air hose into spark plug hole and put in about 90lbs of air pressure. If it is a head gasket you will see bubbles  in the radiator neck. If not than the water pump seal in the side cover could be out putting coolant into the crankcase contaminating the oil. Check to see if oil level is a little high.
