Motorcycle Repair: my ds 80 1992, splined shaft, fresh oil

i got a little ds sizuki 80 and i got a kick start problom its like stripped and i need help i dont know if i should drill it or weld it or what thanks

I'm guessing that you are talking about the kick start arm on the splined shaft going into the case.Do not weld on it.This causes other problems,like getting the side cover off or burning the oil seal around the shaft. Also the kick start shaft is machined and hardened so heating it may soften it. If the arm isnt stripped to bad invest in a $40.00 shaft and $6.00 gasket and fresh oil and repair it right. If you weld it and a repair shop has to work on it to replace any parts under the cover,they are going hose you and your finances greatly.
