Motorcycle Repair: exaust leak?, nighthawk, muffler

Hi Gary,

I am new to motorcycles and I have purchased a 85 nighthawk 700. I was curious if it is normal to have a small hole in the exhaust right after the pipes reach the muffler its a 4 into 2 both of the holes point towards the ground.

Brian, some exhaust systems have a weap hole to let condensation out as the pipes heat up. The hole can rust out and get bigger causing a noisey leak. Sometimes the muffler does'nt get as hot as collector pipes and will rust out aspecially on short town drives.
