Motorcycle Repair: 1986 Honda Magna VF700, honda magna, starter solenoid

Question
When installing a New battery I didn't realize the positive/negative terminals on the New batter were reversed from the original. When I went to attached cables I got a spark---now I don't get any power when key turned on. I believe it is just a blown fuse but I'm no expert on electrical systems-how can I figure out which fuse? No smoke or burning smell when sparking occurred. I do have a shop manual.
Any advice on where to begin?

Answer
Patrick, the shop manual should have a wiring diagram and component locations. I imagine that you burned out the fusible link which is attached to the starter solenoid/relay, next to the battery.

Reversed polarity can blow out rectifier/regulators and other electronic components. Maybe you got lucky, though....

Pull the cover off of #10 and check all the fuses in that box, as well.
