Motorcycle Repair: sychronize carbs.1996vulcan88 1500, vacuum hoses, vacuum fittings

Question
how to do

Answer
Hi Harry,

Sync Vulcan carbs:

Warm up the engine.

Attach vacuum sticks or gauges to the vacuum fittings on the carbs
They may have rubber caps on them to remove.
Sticks are more steady, gauges will flutter a bit.
Idle the engine and check the vacuum readings.

If you notice much difference in the readings then
adjust the screw near the top side of where the throttle
cables hook up.
It will make the rear cylinder vacuum go up or down.
Turn it until carb vacuum is similar at idle speed.

Always keep the idle low when adjusting vacuum.
If the idle goes up turn your idle speed screw to
bring it back to normal.

Check your readings and adjust for best syncronized vacuum.
You will probably hear the engine smooth out when
the readings get close to correct.

Then just replace your vacuum hoses or caps to finish up.

Good Luck!
