Motorcycle Repair: 1971 sportster, clutch lever, clutch release

Question
push rods, why 4 differant rods? how the clutch worm works? & where the spring hooks up in the cover. don`t understand any of it?

Answer
When you say 4 different rods you must be refering to length. The ones for the exhaust are longer since the rocker is farther away from the cam. They need more length or the adjuster would not work.
On the worm. When you pull the clutch lever it twists and pushes on the clutch release rod. Worm gear fits 70 and older, not the 71
The springs you must be refering to are the springs that go in the pushrod covers that puts pressure on the pushrod cover clips
Good luck and happy riding
