Motorcycle Repair: triple tree, fork tubes, triple trees

i have a 2001 sportster withan after market triple tree  would like to take off the tubes as they screw into the top and cannot seen to get them off do you know of a way to get them off and if i ruined them where could buy new tubes? thanks    billl

Are you refering to the fork tubes? If you are you have to remove the top caps, the side bolts on the triple trees and the pinch bolts on the bottom triple tree to get the fork tubes out of them. Then they should slide out. The top caps just screw in, then might be really tight. You might have to use an impact wrench to get them started
