Motorcycle Repair: Starter is slow to engage, starter delay
QuestionI have a 97 Valkyrie GL1500. When I hit the starter switch there is a delay in time anywhere between .5 seconds up to about 1.5 seconds before the starter engages. Any ideas?
AnswerHey Tim,Usually this is due to a battery problem.You can verify this buy either installing a known good battery or by hooking jumper cables to your battery and a fully charged known good battery.If the delay is still there than your starter needs rebuilding or replacing.
