Question
i have a 96 honda xr100 that wont get a spark at all it was running and i laid it over and now it wont get a spark there is alot of dirt where the stator is just wanted to know if you had an idea what i should try first thanks

Answer
Michael...  I trust that the stator cover is in place and no dirt is packed into the stator?? Do check the wiring coming out of the stator cover on that side, though.

You have an electronic/cdi type of ignition system so moisture should not be a problem, unless rust builds up inside the flywheel on the magnet.

If you went down on the LH side, I would take a moment to check the kill switch assembly to see if it has been damaged and is grounding out the ignition. Either the ignition switch or kill switch will ground the sparks out to shut down the CDI system. Disconnect the ignition switch and kill switch wiring and see if the spark returns. The ignition is self-powered, so the switches are just there to turn it off.
