Motorcycle Repair: 1989 tire rub, fxrs sp, frame work

Question
I have a 1989 fxrs-sp and my belt makes wear marks on the rear tire. How long can I ride it like this? Why is the belt rubbing?  Has a 140 on rear, and stock is 130 could that be the problem?  Bike just had frame work done, is their any adjustment to keep belt from rubbing, and is this my problem, or should the frame shop have adjusted this.  Any info will be greatly appreciated-thanks Danny

Answer
Your rubbing tire could be one of two things. Either the tire is to wide or the belt is not properly aligned. The belt rubbing on the tire will either cause the tire to fail or the belt. You can have the rubbing. The tire has to be square to the frame. To align it you measure from the adjuster to the center of the axle. Bothe measurement have to be the same.
Good luck and happy riding
