Motorcycle Repair: oil leaking heavily through blow by tube, harley davidson shovel head, harley davidson shovel

Question
QUESTION: hello i just purchased a 1978 and a half harley davidson shovel head ,on the appraisal due to it being a half year its a 1979 fexf fat bob. in any case it has been sitting for four years and had only been started twice, it is presently dumping alot of oil out the blow by tube and i can kick on it all i want but it wont fire so i quess i am asking two questions. why is it dumping so much oil out the blow by tube and are there some things i can check on the bike before i kick my leg off. thank you

ANSWER: When the bike sits for a long time like that, oil weeps into the bottom end. When you try to start it, the oil pump can't pump the oil backt oth e tank fast enough so it goes out the blow by tube. Once the mtor clears itself it will stop.
First, you need to make sure you are getting a spark. Pull the plugs and hold one to the head and see if you get a good hot spark. Next, look downt he throat of the carb. When you twist the throttle are you getting gas? You can also check it by having somebody hold their had tight over the carb and you lick it over. Are you getting alot of gas?

QUESTION: im not to sure what you mean by color of the plug , the plug wires are just black with the silver points, the spark plugs are just new from harley, canes harley claimed the 79 fxef had electric start even with the kick but i cant find any signs of an electric start, haveing info issues with it actually being a 78 and a half not a 79, today there was gas sitting under the blow by tube, i ran the battery out of juice the previous eve, i hooked boosters up to my truck gave the bike some gas and it fired right away but after 20 minutes it just died.

Answer
When I asked about the color ot the plugs I am refering to the tip and porcelin of the plug. we they really black and fouled?
What voltage are you showing at the battery with the bike running at around 2000 RPM?
Charge the battery with a 2 AMP charger. Dont jump it from your truck. It has to many cranking AMPs and you are taking a chance if blowing up the battery on the bike.
If you send me the VIN number I will check on the year for you
