I CHANGED THE ANTIFREEZE ON MY HONDA SHADOW VT750 1984 AFTER DOING SO IT SEEMS TO OVERHEAT AND BOIL OVER I AM TOLD I MAY HAVE AN AIRLOCK CAN  YOU SUGGEST HOW TO CORRECT THIS IT WAS JUST FINE UNTIL I CHANGED THE ANTIFREEZE

Richard, you have to make sure that the system is completely full to the highest point on the chassis/cooling system.

http://www.cmsnl.com/honda-vt750c-shadow-750-1983-us_model791/partslist/E++16.ht...    Bolt  #19 is the air bleed bolt that needs to be opened, after the cooling system is full to the top of the radiator cap filler neck. Let trapped air out from the fitting for a few seconds, until only coolant escapes, then tighten it up again. It might have been a good time to change the thermostat and gasket, while you were in there.

Run the engine for a few minutes until you can feel that there is heat in the coolant hoses, then shut it off, let cool and check the coolant level in the filler neck again and refill if necessary.

Make sure you have sufficient coolant in the overflow bottle, as well.
