I had my CBX1000z stolen it has now been recovered, the problem I have is with the ignition switch wiring.
The thieves ripped the female ignition switch plug of,I now have a new plug to repair the harness but have no way of knowing which terminals the five wires go to?
the wiring schematic only shows which wires go to the plug it does not show which terminals the wires connect to?
Hope you can help,
Best regards.

1980 CBX ignition plug
ANSWER: Hi Kevin,

Yeah I can see that the schematic may not give you all the details you need.  I have enclosed a picture of the loom side of the ignition switch.  Unfortunately there are three brown wires; let me know if these are connected, but likely these are different for your bike since these are USA connections, the UK connections may be different.  On US bikes the rear lights and front indicators come on with the ignition, which is not the same in the UK.  At least now you know where the main wires (white and Red) go, the others are connectors which you can figure out by putting the switch in the right position and checking what accessories or lights get activated.  Red is the main feed.

QUESTION: Hi Jan,
Thanks for the quick reply, the colours on my my bike seem to differ slightly.
There is red,black,x2browns,x1 brown/white cable.
Non of the cables are connected, all were ripped ouit of the plug.

Answer
I will need to have a look at a European bike to see how the connections go,  please feel free to ask your question on the CBXClub forums, located on www.cbxclub.com  and perhaps someone can take a picture of a UK bike gnition switch wiring...  Sorry I cannot be of more help, I only have US bikes to compare with here.  Cheers,  Jan
