Motorcycle Repair: wheel and brake replacement, triple disc brakes, rear drum brakes

Question
would like to get rid of rear drum brakes on my 81 cx500. can you swap wheels from a cx turbo model to gain a disc? also can the front wheel accept another disc on opposite side for a dual setup?

Answer
Deron....  are you planning to roadrace this bike? Triple disc brakes is kind of overkill on a CX500, in my opinion, but it is your money.

The CX500 Turbo has a pro--link, single shock suspension frame, so that isn't going to be an easy bolt-on setup for your twin-shock model. Motorcycles don't really need that much braking on the back wheel, unless you are doing something really special with it.

Look at the front end of the GL650 models for dual disk brakes and caliper mounting capabilities. You will need to use the matching master cylinder for the dual caliper setup.
