Motorcycle Repair: 78 cb750, speedometer repair, honda cb

Question
I want to take apart my tach to replace a cracked lens. whats the trick.?

Answer
Roger.... is the lens FLAT or convex? If it isn't flat glass you won't be able to find anything like that, other than to rob another gauge unit.

http://www.cmsnl.com/honda-cb750k8-four-usa_model14397/partslist/F02.html  shows that these meters are not designed to come apart.

I take my units to a local speedometer repair shop and let them use their expertise and special tools to carefully pry the bezel trim edge up enough to allow the unit to be taken apart. They have some kind of holding jig to refit the bezel trim when they are done doing repairs.

Yes, if you have good repair skills, lots of tools and patience to remove the bezel (and reinstall it again), the units can be disassembled at home, but chances are that it may not be an easy task and an invisible repair when you are finished.

Here are a couple of links if you want to give it a shot, yourself.
