Motorcycle Repair: bike wont start, oil light, turn signals

Question
i haven't ridden my 07 harley fxdl in 2 years.  I started it up last week and it started fine.  Before I started it the oil light was on, which I can assume means add oil.  I attempted to start it again today and it would not turn over.  The lights came on and the turn signals blinked and the oil light was stayed on.  could you give me some ideas as to what might be wrong.  Operator error, bad battery, etc.

thank youl

Answer
I would say check the battery first.  The oil light is always on when the ignition is on and the engine is not started; it means the oil pressure is low.  It is not a level indicator.  The light should go out as soon as the engine starts.

Good luck,  Jan
