Motorcycle Repair: 1998 1340 miss fire, miss fire, hi mike

QUESTION: Hi, Mike; My 1998 lowrider 1340 EVO is starting to stalls out at 70 mph and back fires. After it back fires my bike runs fine again please help?

ANSWER: When this happens do you lose lights or like the power is going off and then coming back on?

QUESTION: No sir, the lights are ok and i dont lose complet power.

ANSWER: I forgot to ask, is it carberated or fuel injected

QUESTION: It's carberated and it has been rebuilt and I also replace the coil and wires?

Answer
There are a couple of things that can be happening. One is you have a short in the ignition system and it kicking off durning the time the bike is vibrating. The other is the ignition system is breaking down and getting ready to go out. I would check all the wiring and connections for the ignition. If you dont find anything then I would replace the ignition.
