Motorcycle Repair: cb 750k honda 1981, kill switch, handlebars

Question
Please may I get your help?  I bought the bike and it had needed a battery and also needed to have the gas taken out of tank since it had been in there for a year and not run. Today I put the new battery in and found that it worked! Drained the tank by taking it off and draining it, while that was happening I looked at some things like the connections and areas that might have some wear. Put everything together and put some good gas into the tank and nothing. When I did return the key all the way over to the right the parking light is the only thing that worked, no headlight, no horn nothing upfront. Went looking at the fuses under the gauges between bars. Is this enough info to make any type of diagnosis?
please help.
sincerely
Angel

Answer
There is more than likely some corrosion on the contacts, so exercise the ignition switch a few times. Also wiggle the kill switch to ensure it is making a good connection.  Check the fuses under the handlebars, but also look for the main fuse which is somewhere near the battery, but if the parking light is working the main fuse is probably OK.  I would check the ignition switch itself first.

Good luck,  Jan
