Motorcycle Repair: Chatter in the engine, evolution engine, cylinder walls

Question
QUESTION: I have a '98 Ultra, evolution engine.  At about 2500 rpm's there is quite a chatter.  It diminishes as you accelerate, or back off the throttle.  I had an upper end rebuilt, and needed it, scorched pistons and cylinder walls.  The problem is the chattering continues at 2500+ rpm's.  Could I have a problem with the push rods, or rocker arms?  They were not changed out.

ANSWER: Where does it sound like its coming from? Left or right side? bottom end or top end?

QUESTION: It's difficult to say exactly were the sound comes from.  It seems to be in the front of the engine.  And may be from the right side and toward the top, but I can not be sure of that.

Answer
Its probably not a   lifter, pushrod or ricker arm. They usuall;y make more noise at idle than higher RPMs. It could be a cam bearing going out or a bearing on the lifter going out. i woudl remove the cam cover and check them first
Good luck and happy riding
