Motorcycle Repair: 1980 Honda CB650, stator coil, bike expert

Question
Hello, I recently purchased a 1980 Honda CB650 with pretty low miles.  I got it very cheap because the battery system is not charging.  I have taken it to a local bike expert in the area and he says the stator is bad which from what i understand goes bad on these bikes like hotcakes go on Sundays.  My question is, where would i go about finding this part?  I have been searching all over the internet and cannot seem to find one.  And also, do you think i just need the stator coil or do i need the inside rotor part as well?  Thank you very much and hope to hear from you soon.

Answer
Nick, Each component needs to be checked carefully before replacement, so you don't waste money on repairs unnecessarily.

Use their troubleshooting tree on the other webpages to confirm the diagnosis.

The rotor failures are REALLY common, but often one component failure will trigger a landslide of related component damages.

Electrosport has components for sale at half of Honda pricing.
