Hi,
 i have a 98 honda shadow 600 i know its not in the bikes you listed but the only problem is that sometimes i get spark and sometimes i dont

Usually with ignition problems like that, I will check the ignition switch and the kill switch, including the connectors.  Typically that will fix 90% of these issues.  also see if the problem is linked to the postion of the handlebars, sometimes there is a worn part in the loom where it goes around the headstock.
