Motorcycle Repair: replaceing handle bars, decorator plates, handlebars

QUESTION: how do i get decorator plates off my Roadking Classic 2006
so that i can remove the handlebars from the bike.
plus any other advise on getting the bars off

ANSWER: are you refering to the top cover over the handlebars or the narcell which covers the front end close to the top of the handlebars?

you have to start by removing the trim around the key lock. Under it you will find screws. remove them and the bolt that holds on the top cover. Once you hve the top cover off the handlebars are attached to risers. remov ethe bolts for the top cap of the risers and the handlebars will come out
