Question
my cbr was running yesterday I went to start it today and started back firing it persisted until it back fired out the front and almost caught on fire. a few days ago i put on new stator. also when i try to crank it front head light goes out completely is this problem due to timing if so how do i set it

Answer
Kirk....  I assume you changed the stator due to charging system failure. Did you fully charge the battery? Is it still a good battery that will pass a load test? These bikes MUST have a fully charged battery and functioning charging system. Once the battery voltage goes down the on-board electronics go into shut down mode, below a certain voltage. This could explain the backfiring. Check your charging system fully, before you try to ride it again.

Otherwise, you may have some fuel feed problems that have surfaced suddenly.

The headlight is designed to turn OFF when you press the starter button, allowing for full voltage to be routed to the starter motor. When the engine has started, the headlight resumes function once the button is released.
