Motorcycle Repair: tranny ?s, engine case, bad case

What would you consider a fair price for a trans rebuild for a 1977 xlhc,and do you do this type of work. I am also looking for someone to weld my engine case because my kicker locked up and cracked the case in several spots. Any info or advice you could give me would be greatly appreciated. thanks

The rebuild cost on your tranny would depend on whats wrong. Its hard to set a price until you have it all apart and can see what needs replacing. I have rebuilt many a ironhead transmission. I can't help you with the welding issue probably need somebody that can weld aluminum. J & P has a catalog with tranny part prices in it I don't know about the labor with that bad case and all.
