Motorcycle Repair: 72 Ironhead Clutch adjustment, clutch adjustment, clutch lever

Question
Hey Mike,

So long story shorter, I think the ramp is fully extended, and won't release to the normal down position.
I'm afraid that if I give a lot of slack to enable it to pop into position, I'll risk the cable coming loose of the whole fingers holding it on.
Is there another trick to just giving "some" slack, and getting the ramp to start pulling on the cable ?
I hope this all makes sense ...

PS I do have the main screw in pushing in so as to cause the pressure the ramp needs to rock it into place.
I hope that is understood as well.

Thx Mike !

Answer
I am confused by your question, so I will tell you how to adjust the clutch and see if this helps you. If not, maybe you can explain it to me a little clearer.
First, loosen the cable so there is alot of slack in it. Loosen the clutch adjuster screw. Take the wire int he cable and push it back towards the primary. This will push the ramp back all the way. Now adjust the clutch so the screw just touches and then back out about 1/8 of a turn. Now adjust the cable so there about 1/8 inch play in the clutch lever
Good luck and happy riding
Mike
