Motorcycle Repair: 76 shovelhead-electric starter?, open primaries, shovelhead engine

I have a 76 dyna? with a 1000cc shovelhead engine that's a 81-88.  The primary is open with a drive belt.  My question is this- is there an electric starter application that I can use?  I really love the bike, it's the kick starter that may kill me.  Is there any way I can keep the engine warm to aid with kick starting?  You see, it's taken 38 years to aquire this beast.  Thank you very much for your time.

There are open primaries that can have a electric starter added. It is going to depend on what brand and application its being used. You will have to look at the back of it, where the starter would go, and see if any fittings are there to install a starter. If not, then your going to have to either install the type that will accept a starter or go back to stock
