Motorcycle Repair: 883 harley, 883 harley, motorcycle engines

Question
I have a 883 and when it starts it sounds good. When it is run for awhile the tapping gets very loud and stands out. I was thinking the rocker arms need adjusting however I do not know anything about motorcycle engines the sound worries me. If u could give me some info.

Your bike has hydrolic lifters and there is no adjustment. The tapping you are hearing is the lash in the pushrod. You can try changing to synethic oil and that might help. It doesnt really hurt anything. the only other thing you can do is change the lifters
