how do you test the stator on a 2000 super glide                                                                changed oil started bike and got smoke from voltage regulator

Answer
You need to unplug it and at the plug for the stator do a OHMs test on the stator. Do a pin to to pin and a pin to ground. You should have no OHMs. Then start the bike and at the stator plug you need to test for AC volts. At 2000 RPM you should be getting about 60 volts
