Motorcycle Repair: cb900c, cb900c, cb900

Question
Jan,
I have a cb900 that I have rebuilt head, carbs, and it does not have any power! It takes forever to get to 5000 rpm's. Have static
timed engine : How do you check timing advance without getting an oil bath? I know timing could cause engine to be very sluggish, can wrong heat range plugs cause same sluggish performance? What
NGK plug do You recommend? Any sugestions you have to make this
thing run properly woud be greatly appreciated!!!!

Todd

Answer
Well unless the iming is miles off, I do not suspect this will be the problem.  Is the valve timing 100%?  Also the carbs are nice and clear and the boots are tight between the head and the carbs?  Fuel is nice and fresh and the compression is good?  Use the stock plugs, NGK's are great, I do not know the stock plug for your bike but the CBX uses D8EA plugs, yours will be similar I think.  Anyway check the items above and let me know. Good luck,  Jan
