Motorcycle Repair: FXR chain conversion, chain conversion, rear tyre

Hi,im looking to widen the rear tyre on my 1990 FXR and the most common route seems to convert to chain.is there a kit i can purchase and what size can i take the tyre out to? also been whats the procedure and how long should it take ?? .....many thanks!!

If you just convert to a chain you will be able to go to about a 150 tire. If you are looking for wider, there are kits out there to convert your bike. You would have to install a new swing arm and fender. Alot of the wide tire kits will still allow you to use a belt. Check different catologs online. Try Bikers Choice, V-Twin  Manufacturing, Custom Chrome, ETC
