Motorcycle Repair: inner primary, ridged frame, health problems

Hey Mike, I was recently given a project my moms husband has had for awhile, due to health problems he is no longer able to ride. all he knows is It is a old ridged frame not sure the year with a brand new HD springer front end and a 2005 rev-tec 88 with over sized pistons to 96 or 99 ci. mated to a old HD. 4-speed kicker trans 1.5 inch open belt drive. I want to upgrade to 3" drive. I have noticed that there is no primary backing plate or inner primary at all that is connected from the engine to the trans except the belt. Do I need the inner primary backing plate or can I run it like this? do they even make a inner primary for this combo? what would be the best way to switch to 3" drive?

Your best way to do what you want is to get a kit that has the 3" belt drive. It will have all the parts you need to change over the 1.5" to a 3". Check out V-twin manufacturing online catalog and you can find what you need
