Motorcycle Repair: STRPPED SPARK PLUG HOLE, tap handle, bill silver

Question
WHAT IS THE BEST REPAIR FOR A STRIPPED OUT SPARK PLUG HOLE. THE SPARK PLUG THREADS SEIZED TO HOLE THREADS AND SOME CAME OUT WITH THE SPARK PLUG. DO I NEED TO REMOVE THE HEADS OR IS THERE SOME EASIER WAY TO SOLVE THIS?

Answer
Jackson, part of the decision depends on the size of the spark plug hole and how many threads are gone/left to work with.

You can try to find a matching metric tap, grease up the flutes and slowly turn it into the hole, feeling for it to catch some threads and clean up the hole. The grease should catch the filings that come off, so they don't fall down the cylinder bore. You will need a tap handle or you might be able to use a small 1/4" drive socket that matches the end of the tap, to use as a driver.

If that doesn't work, then there are spark repair inserts that can be installed, but the chances for debris to fall down into the cylinder are pretty good. The proper way is to remove the head and have a machine shop repair the stripped hole.
