Motorcycle Repair: Stabil in gas tank?, gallon tank, agricultural agent

Question
Just exactly how does this "Staybil" product work?  I've been told to add it to my gas, then run the engine just a bit to "work it through the engine", and then turn it off and leave it over the winter.

As I read the instructions, 1 fluid oz treats 2.5 gallons of gas. If that's true, should I add 1 fluid oz to my 3 galoon motorcycle gas tank when it's full?

Or is it preferred to mix it in a gallon gas can, and then top off my tank, and ride to the gas station to top off the tank before storing it?

I heard an agricultural agent say on TV that he treats his can of gas, spashes a little in his mower, blower, etc, and runs them dry before storing.

What is the best action?  And how exactly does this stuff work?
Must I empty my gas tank of three gallons of gas next spring before riding, or can I just burn through the tankful as if nothing had been done to it?

Answer
Staybil works by adding chemicals to the gas to keep it from degrading over time. Fill your tank and then add the Staybil to it. If you have a 3 gallon tank then add a oz to it. Start the bike and let it run until it warms up, then close the petcock and let it run until the carb runs out of gas and you good to go for the winter. In the spring just start the bike and run it like normal. you dont have to drain the gas that is in there.
Good luck and happy riding
