Motorcycle Repair: 1984 honda cb700 sc, honda cb700sc, piston seal

Question
i have a 1984 Honda CB 700 when i got the bike five months ago the only problems it had was the oil leaking from the slave cylinder which is still leaking motor oil and i have removed the slave cylinder and noticed another seat that seals a push rod when going through the engine block and i think this seal is my problem and i also noticed that the slave cylinder is designed to have a drain hole for this problem if i am correct about this will this mean i need to rebuild my engine just to replace that seal behind the slave cylinder?

also the bike has become extremely cold natured literally over night i know because i ride it to work every day and woke up one day to go to work and had to completely flood out the carbs and cause a backfire through the tail pipes and then it started funny thing is once the bike gets warm i can start it with the first push on the button and without using the choke like i said this happened over night it use to be a first time starter nomatter whether it was cold or not also with this problem i have noticed that the turn signals stay solid when i turn them on both front back and the gage pod stays solid until i clear the signal this is just recent as well

Answer
Micheal... The small pushrod seal will just pry out and you can drive in a new one, pretty easily.

Parts list here: http://www.cmsnl.com/honda-cb700sc-84-nighthawk-s-us_model1018/partslist/E++09.h...  Replace ALL the seals, rebuild the slave cylinder by cleaning out the piston seal #8, plus the other soft parts.

If you remove the idle mixture limit caps, you can richen up the idle mixture a little bit and the starting and idling should improve. A lot depends on how clean the carbs are on the inside and if the float valves are working correctly.

Check the condition of the vacuum diaphragm on the petcock. These will fail, making an air leak and shutting down the fuel flow to the carbs, especially when cold and the bike has been sitting for awhile. http://www.cmsnl.com/honda-cb700sc-84-nighthawk-s-us_model1018/partslist/F++15.h...

Make sure that all the choke cable is pulling all the enricheners correctly.

Your turn signal issues can be due to low battery voltage or a weak flasher unit, if the battery is good. Make sure all the signal bulbs are correct size and the bulb bases are all grounded correctly.
